Everett Jones Miller, born in South Windsor on April 23, 1916 and nearly a lifelong resident, died in 2004 at the age of 87. He attended South Windsor’s Union District Grammar School and went to Hartford Public High School, from which he graduated in 1935. He worked as an engineer and draftsman for companies including Allen Manufacturing, Colt Firearms, and United Technologies Corporation. He was a history and genealogy enthusiast, founded South Windsor’s Ye Society of Genealogy club, and created an extensive card catalog documenting the genealogy of over 80,000 South Windsor residents and their ancestors. Miller was also active in the South Windsor Historical Society.
This collection includes report cards and other school records and certificates from Everett J. Miller and his older brother Charles E. Miller; materials related to a secret society that Everett J. Miller created with high school classmates, which they called The United World Rangers; and news clippings and other materials related to Everett Miller’s genealogy research as an adult. The collection also includes a large photograph of students from Hartford Public High School, 1935.
