Karen will also lead a pastel workshop on February 22, 2019! Create a sunflower masterpiece. Participants will learn how to mix colors to establish clear value and temperature relationships using sponges and applicators, much like paint. The students will learn how to create a variety of mark making and edges to give the illusion of textures. We will apply this color mixing and mark making to achieve a unique work of art. The workshop will consist of demonstration, discussion, handouts and lots of personal attention from the instructor. All levels are welcome.
“I am drawn to all things ephemeral. My goal is to reveal the essence of a subject before nature’s inexorable force changes it forever. Documenting these fleeting moments captures an element of immutable truth. This inherent contradiction, irrespective of the subject matter, ignites my creative process and the shifting interplay of value, color and shape becomes the template for my designs.”- Karen Israel
