7th Annual Harvest Moon Dinner:
A Series of Macabre Events, An Online Presentation
This 2021 Harvest Moon Dinner presentation is currently available for purchase ($5) from our
online marketplace.
We hope you will join us for frightfully extraordinary experience. In lieu of our annual Harvest Moon Dinner, Wood Archivist, Leith Johnson, will take you on a journey through South Windsor’s most mysterious and truly macabre events in The Wood’s first-ever online presentation!
Did you grow up hearing the legend of Screwy Louie? Do you know how Beelzebub Road got its name? Just in time for Halloween, we will share stories of coffins, ghosts and the criminally insane. You do not need to be from South Windsor to enjoy these peculiar stories and events.
Presentation Overview
In Part One, What Happened When They Died, we learn about residents of long ago who expired, and what happened to their bodies. Did they rest in peace? Part Two, Unexplained Hauntings and Other Legends, examines purpoted haunted buildings and their inhabitants. Lastly, we’ll end with Curious Crimes, sharing three macabre stories, including the first person to be hung using the new “automatic hanging machine” in 1894.
Learn something new, look at a building a little differently, and most importantly, be entertained (you’ll chuckle, we promise). However, this program may not be suitable for children, or scaredy cat adults. Read an excerpt from our October 16th Musings from Main here.
The registration fee for this online program is only $10 per person, and the presentation will be followed by a live Q&A. You’ll simply click on a link to join the presentation and do not need a web camera or microphone. The presentation will begin promptly at 6:30pm.
Checks can be made payable to “Friends of WMLM” and mailed to: The Wood, PO Box 131, South Windsor, CT 06074.
