Nowashe Update

Renowned Wampanoag artist, Kerri Helme, has finished construction of the Woodland-era clay pots. The village will proudly feature her works in both its Sachem's House and larger wigwam.

The structures in Nowashe village have been completed and have thankfully not been damaged  by Hurricane Isaias!  There has, however been extensive tree damage throughout the village.

The partial wetu (pictured to the right), the enclosed wetu (below) and the Sachem's House all have downed trees near them.

There are also several trees blocking the walking path thru Nowashe and the damage done to the tree canopy make the area unsafe at this time for visitors.

We are currently researching available funding resources and speaking with professional tree service companies in an effort to  restore Nowashe to its pre-hurricane state.
