The Wood is "Virtually" Open!?!
What does virtually open mean? Glad you asked my friend! Although, we are still not able to assist you in person we are happy to be able to offer many of our services to patrons remotely.
Beginning September 14th our staff will be available from 10 am to 12pm, Mondays thru Thursdays to answer phone calls and emails. Please, no in-person visits yet.
Our online archival database Past Perfect is available 24/7 for patrons to begin their research and you can still submit reference requests to archives@woodmemoriallibrary.org.
Keep an eye on your email inbox! The popular educational email, Daily Dose, has been transformed into Musings from Main and will begin again on a weekly basis starting September 17th. In case you missed them, the Daily Dose educational emails live on as a digital exhibit on our website.
The first phase of our exhibit: Evolution of Agriculture which focuses on the role agriculture has played in the development of South Windsor is now available online. Follow the exhibit timeline from the Native Podunks and the Three Sisters method of gardening to the rise and slow decline of tobacco farming in the area. We will be adding modern day agritourism and land conservation efforts to this exhibit in 2021.
We are currently working on our final digital exhibit in celebration of South Windsor's 175th Anniversary, From the Podunk Path into Space. The exhibit will explore differing modes of transportation, their history and impact on the development of the South Windsor area.
