New Online Exhibit is Here!

Formative Women
of the
Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum

This online exhibit, Formative Women of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum, was created in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum and Women's History Month.  Thank you to anniversary committee members:  Maureen Bourn, Ginny Macro, Sue Shepard and current Friends’ Board President, Nancy Ainsworth, for all their hard work in the development of this entertaining and informative exhibit.

Formative Women of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum, tells the story of the 50-year-old organization through the eyes and voices of the women who created it.  Presented in book format, the exhibit features 18 women who were influential not only in the initial formation of the Friends as a non-profit organization but who have also had a guiding hand in its development and expansion over the past half-century.

As we look to the future of the Friends, we are extremely grateful to all of the women who continue to contribute their time, talents, and resources to the success of the organization.

So many more women (and men) contributed to the legacy of the Friends, and we wish we could recognize them all. Look for more exhibits and events throughout 2021 as we continue to celebrate the growth and success of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum!

We Need Your Help!

Nowashe Volunteers Needed

Nowashe Village will be opening this spring and we need volunteers for several positions.

Are you an outgoing, people person? We need greeters to welcome visitors to our new outdoor, interactive, Native American Museum.  Former teacher or college student with an interest in history? Train to be a guide or docent, and teach visitors about what life was like among the Podunk tribe living in this area.

Help us launch Nowashe Village and make it a BIG success! Contact Liz Glaviano for more information on volunteer opportunities.

Tips on Viewing our Online Exhibit

Our latest online exhibit is presented in a book format.  At the bottom of the book, there is a toolbar that can allow the viewer to do several different things.

The large X symbol third from the left will make the book larger for easier viewing and the symbol with the + sign will zoom in on the page making it even bigger.

The symbol with the four boxes clustered together (highlighted below in blue) will open thumbnail pictures to the left of the book allowing the viewer to more easily jump several pages ahead or back.

We hope you enjoy our latest online exhibit, Formative Women of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Friends and Double the Impact of your Donation!

We are turning 50!  In 2021, we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum (FWMLM) and the party starts off with a new exhibit and a matching gifts fundraiser! The first $2,500 in new or increased donations made in honor of our 50th Anniversary will be generously matched dollar for dollar by Sue Shepard.

Join in the celebration and show your support as we create special programming and exhibits throughout the year that highlight a timeline of accomplishments and growth of the Friends over the past half-century.

Kicking off the celebrations with a nod to Women's History Month, we have launched our initial anniversary-themed online exhibit, Formative Women of the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum. We hope you enjoy it!

If you would like to make a donation to the Friends in honor or memory of any of these women, please visit our website.
