June 2021 E-Newsletter

Nowashe Village has opened to wonderful reviews!

"I was very impressed with the speaker’s presentation, the tour of the village, and your First Peoples exhibits.  Thank you."-Diane

If you have not had the time to visit yet, we have a lot of great programs coming up including Native American Storytelling on June 5th, and Rock Identification Day on June 19th, with Nancy Najarian & Friends, Al Peret, Bob Reynolds, and Paula Morris from the Lapidary & Mineral Society of CT (LMSCC). Our second Explore More Program will coincide with the Strawberry Moon Celebrations on June 26th and we will be participating in CT Open House Day on June 12th by offering free admission and extending our open hours to 12 - 4 p.m. More details on both of these programs are offered below.

We hope to see you soon!

Admission to Nowashe Village always includes a multimedia self-guided tour on your personal electronic device, special Native American artifact from our collections, Explorer activity for children, and stationed docents ready to answer your questions. Visit our calendar for a look at what each Saturday has to offer!

Annual Fundraising Campaign

While this past year was largely made up of triage and experimentation, thanks to your generous support, we persevered.  Moreover, as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary and learn from 2020, we are able to look to the future with excitement.  We are in the process of thoughtfully examining how to combine time-honored traditions and programming with new technology, innovation, originality, and perhaps most importantly, modern and relevant community conversations.  We are looking forward to a transformative year, while continuing to stay true to our roots.

Please consider making your tax-deductible donation before the end of our fiscal year on June 30th to the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum.

Creative Opportunity!

Are you a retail store decorator, or have experience with event décor?  We are looking for someone who would be interested in being a core member of our design team for our 2021 Gingerbread House Festival. A stipend will be provided. Please contact Carolyn Venne if you are interested.
