Harry Bancroft stands in the doorway of the C.Z. Parmelee Store, around 1890. This building is also known as the East Windsor Hill Post Office and is one of the oldest continuously operating post offices in the country. The left-hand section was built in 1757, while the two-story right-hand section was built ten to fifteen years later. Over the centuries the building has been a saddle shop, gold and silversmith, publishing house, post office, and general store. (Hildred Raymond Collection, WMLM.)
