Indigenous Peoples Day

This year Nowashe Village and the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum will welcome Chris Painted Turtle Harris. An herbalist & Spiritual Guide, Turtle has been practicing herbal medicine since 2021. Turtle (Mohegan) comes to us with the wisdom of Native Ceremony and is willing to share the teachings as he lives them in his spiritual life. He has a strong belief in our connection to Mother Earth and shares what he has learned on this path. Painted Turtle offers his years of experience and Native wisdom for a variety of classes and events throughout the year. He is a member and Ceremonial person of the Mohegan Tribe of Indians currently serving on the Mohegan Tribal Council of Elders.

We will also be offering family friendly activities such at atlatl throwing and beaded crafts.
