Carolyn Venne, Executive Director

Carolyn is a graduate of Babson College and has worked in corporate sales and marketing, survey research project management and more than 15 years in nonprofit management and program development. During her time as a stay-at-home mom of twins, she served as a member of Friends of Wood Memorial Library’s Board of Directors before being named executive director in January 2017. She is currently working toward her Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University. Carolyn is a member of the South Windsor Greater Together Community Fund Committee through the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, a member of the finance committee for CAST Children’s Theatre in Manchester, a cellist in a local teaching orchestra (the Sol Solis Consort) and in her role as executive director, a liaison to the Arts Commission for the Town of South Windsor.
Jessica Vogelgesang, Director of Communications and Engagement

Jessica has a BA in journalism and a MA in communications. Originally from Colorado, Jessica relocated to South Windsor in 2004. First a volunteer and then a board member, Jessica was named interim executive director in February 2015. Her early work for the Friends involved successfully publicizing the Gingerbread House Festival which has made it the New England-wide destination that it is today. These days, Jess is well known for her widely popular Musings from Main email series. Jess currently serves as a member of the Charter Commission for the Town of South Windsor.
Amanda Flynn Rumney, Education Director and Collections Manager

Amanda is originally from California where she completed a Bachelor’s in anthropology. Her MA is from Durham University in the United Kingdom, which is a dual degree in Museum and Artifact Studies. A Connecticut resident since 2015, Amanda has worked as a living historian at Mystic Seaport Museum and with Dirty Blue Shirts, and has also worked as a consulting archivist for the Preston Historical Society. Amanda joined the Friends in early 2024 and is diligently working to expand our educational programs for all ages on a number of topics related to South Windsor.
