Oral History Day
To prepare for America’s 250th birthday in 2026 (known as the Semiquincentennial or “Semiquin”), History Chip has challenged every town in Connecticut to get their residents involved in “opening up their memories” to share stories of life in America. We’d love to hear from you, and collect any archival information (i.e. photographs) you may have.
We will be utilizing the platform TheirStory, which means interviews will be conducted online and you can be located ANYWHERE provided you have access to a computer. Sign up to share your insights and memories by choosing a 20 minute slot on Saturday, April 5 with Executive Director Carolyn Venne. (Additional sign-up slots may become available with other interviewers.) Can’t make October 19 or have a different story you or someone you know should record? Contact us to set something up.
The Friends has been recording oral histories for decades. Participants will be required to sign a waiver, granting that their interview will be transcribed (you will have an opportunity to make minor edits) and made available for research for generations to come.
