Stowe Center Group Visit

Even if you’re not planning on reading or discussing Uncle Tom’s Cabin on zoom or in-person, join a group tour of the Stowe Center for Literary Activism (formerly known as the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center).
Our 60-minute tour will move through the Harriet Beecher Stowe house while an interactive discussion takes place.  A few things to understand about tours at the Stowe Center:
While tours and discussions take place in the Stowe House, the focus is on the story of Stowe’s writing and the broader context of the anti-slavery and abolitionist movements
Tours of the Stowe House include the first floor and the upstairs, which includes the bedroom and the Gallery for Hope and Freedom.
Tours are history-focused, not collections or house-focused
A visit to the Stowe Center is “intentionally conversational, rooted in dialogue with visitors with encouragement to connect history to the present day”
We will meet at the Stowe Center in Hartford at 9:45am.  Depending on the number of participants, we may split into multiple small tour groups and plan for an optional lunch after the tour to share our impressions of the tour.
Thanks to funding from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, we are able to discount tickets to the Stowe Center by $10 each.  This reduces the cost of Adults aged 17-64 to $10, Seniors $5 and Children 6-16 years old are free.  If purchasing tickets for multiple age groups, you may need to submit the form more than once. We apologize for this inconvenience!  Note, if children are attending, you must include the number in the submission form so that we can provide an accurate count to the Stowe Center.
