Girl Scouts Programs

The Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum and Nowashe Village offer customizable programming for Girl Scout Troops of all ages!

Founded in 1971, The Friends of Wood Memorial Library offers hands-on programs both on site at the Wood Memorial Library & Museum and off site outreach programs.  Program topics include Colonial and Early American history as well as the arts.

Nowashe Village is located behind the Wood Memorial Library and is a permanent outdoor exhibit interpreting both the history of the Indigenous Peoples of the Connecticut River Valley and the ecology of the region. Program offerings subject to change with the seasons and weather.

Please contact Education Director Amanda Flynn Rumney if you have any questions or would like to book. If you do not see your badge or topic listed, we are happy to develop programming for your troop’s unique needs.

Art and History Programs:

The Wood Memorial Library & Museum located on Old Main Street in South Windsor, houses works of art and archival materials that can enrich your troop’s art and history learning. Step into the past and learn about life in Connecticut during the Woodland and Colonial Periods with hands-on activities such as candle dipping and sewing or by playing traditional games. Experience late 19th century America when Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of America, grew up while you learn about local artists Amelia and Edith Watson.
